The Pediatric Neurosurgery, a Division of the Leo Davidoff Department of Neurosurgery at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM), has experience unrivaled in caring for children with neurological illnesses. Goodrich, MD, PhD, and Rick Abbott, MD, are certified by both the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery.

James T Goodrich, MD, PhD has been the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery, a Division of the Leo Davidoff Department of Neurosurgery, since 1986.  He has a particular interest in complex craniofacial anomalies being a key central member of the Craniofacial Center at Montefiore. He has been advanced the surgical techniques used for repair these conditions.  He has authored numerous book chapters and articles on the subject and is known internationally as a prominent lecturer on the topic. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Goodrich, please call 718-920-4197.

Rick Abbott, MD, was recruited in 2004 to become the Director of Surgical Neurooncology at CHAM.  He has a long and extensive experience in managing tumors of the nervous system in children.  An integral part of this experience has been work in developing techniques for monitoring the health of the nervous system during surgery.  These techniques are gaining acceptance around the world as they continue to be developed by Dr Abbott's team. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Abbott, please call 718-920-8512.

The Division also has extensive experience and interest in the other conditions affecting the nervous systems of children.  While we offer the most technologically sophisticated treatments and are actively working to advance the science of pediatric neurosurgery we strongly feel that we are here to serve our young patients by listening and responding to their needs.
