Alan Legatt, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Legatt is Director of the EEG Laboratory, Director of the Evoked Potential Laboratory, and Director of Intraoperative Neurophysiology at the Montefiore Medical Center, and is Professor of Clinical Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, from which he received his Ph.D. (in neurophysiology) and M.D. degrees in 1981.
Dr. Legatt received his clinical neurology and clinical neurophysiology training at the Neurological Institute of New York. He is board certified in Neurology and in Clinical Neurophysiology, and has served many times as an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (where he is a member of the Executive Council), and of the American Society for Neurophysiological Monitoring (where he has served as a member of the Board of Directors). He has served as president of the Eastern Association of Electroencephalographers from 1998- 2000.
Dr. Legatt has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of journals. He has directed courses in clinical neurophysiology at meetings of several professional societies, and has been an invited speaker at many institutions other than Montefiore/Einstein. He has written many papers and textbook chapters in the areas of neurology and clinical neurophysiology, and is a co-author of the textbook "Goldensohn's EEG Interpretation".
Dr. Legatt's research interests include the analysis of EEG monitoring data, the subcomponent structure and generators of evoked potentials, evoked potential changes in patients with epilepsy, and techniques for intraoperative monitoring of the nervous system.
