CHAM provides access to a full range of pediatric subspecialty services. Pediatric pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, critical care, endocrinologists and cardiologists are all available as soon as they are needed.
Family-centered outpatient treatment
With its ongoing nature, treatment for children’s cancer and blood disorders can be arduous for our patients and their families. Being admitted to the hospital for treatment – overnight or for days in a row – can be psychologically and emotionally traumatic for children. In addition, extended or repeated hospitalization can have a disruptive effect on our patients’ families as they struggle to cope with change and schedule their daily lives around treatment.
It is our philosophy – and our commitment to our patients – that with the right care in the right environment, patients can receive the very best treatment possible with minimal disruption to their lives. To that end, CHAM offers an outpatient-centered approach that strives to minimize hospitalization for our patients whenever possible. Our Day Hospital makes it possible to offer patients certain treatments – including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, transfusions and anesthesia – on an outpatient basis. Our extended clinic hours help accommodate busy schedules.
In some cases, hospitalization is unavoidable, but CHAM is a completely child-centered facility, aimed at making children as comfortable and comforted as possible. Our kid-friendly environment extends from the design of our facility to a wealth of amenities aimed specifically at children, including our learning center, play rooms and video games.
