Comprehensive Family Care Center
Located in a new, state-of-the-art outpatient facility, the Comprehensive Family Care Center (CFCC) sees children and families from ethnically and socio-economically diverse neighborhoods in and around the east Bronx, Northern Manhattan, and lower Westchester.
CFCC is a designated federal community health center providing comprehensive family-care centered services in:
- Pediatrics
- Adult medicine
- OB-GYN
- Dentistry
- Allergy
- Opthalmology
The center also includes a pediatric nurse practitioner and on-site Nutrition, Social Work, and Pediatric Psychology services. It maintains an affiliation with the local office of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants and Children (WIC) at Westchester Square. Children in need of sub-specialty services are linked directly to practitioners at CHAM.
In addition to their clinical expertise in general pediatrics, our physicians at this site represent a broad spectrum of particular interests including:
Adolescent Medicine:
- Complete confidential adolescent care
- STD treatment
- Contraception
- Health care maintenance and health education for adolescents
Obesity and Hyperlipidemia:
- Board Certified Pediatric Gastroenterologist
- Nutrition support
Children with chronic illness:
- Award winning program, "Linking Individualized Needs of Children with Services (LINCS)"for families of children with chronic illness
- Home visiting program for chronically ill children
- CHAM-based multidisciplinary team dedicated to subspecialty needs of chronically ill children
Asthma:
- National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Guideline approach to treatment of all children with asthma
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant-funded Children's Asthma Program (CAP) for moderate and severely affected children and families including intensive asthma education and support services
Behavioral Pediatrics:
- Individualized services for wide range of behavioral problems including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and children with developmental abnormalities
- Close linkages with the Rose F. Kennedy Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC).
Environmental Pediatrics:
- Lead screening
- Smoking cessation and prevention services
- Expertise of the National Chairperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Environmental Pediatrics
