Treatments and Diagnostics

The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) offers specialized diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. Our endoscopy unit is staffed by accomplished nurses, ambulatory anesthesiology and child life services, providing assistance to families before and after procedures.

Diagnostics:

• Diagnostic upper endoscopy (EGD)
• Diagnostic colonoscopy
• Capsule endoscopy
• Liver biopsy
• Rectal biopsy
• 24-hour ambulatory pH monitoring
• Esophageal and rectal manometry
• Endoscopic ultrasound (in conjunction with adult GI services)

Therapeutic:

• Polypectomy
• Endoscopic stricture dilatation
• Percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy (PEG)
• Endoscopic control of GI bleeding
• Variceal banding, endoscopic clipping, argon plasma coagulation
• Endoscopic foreign body removal
• Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), papillotomy and stone removal (in conjunction with adult GI services)
• Cyst-gastronomy for drainage of pancreatic collection (in conjunction with adult GI services)
