Your child's pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Jacqueline M. Lamour, is one of the country's most experienced specialists in pediatric heart failure, transplant and congenital heart disease. Formerly Associate Director of Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplantation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Lamour has managed more than 200 children undergoing heart transplant. She has treated 400 children with heart failure.

Dr. Lamour possesses a rare combination of skills-transplant experts call on expertise in immunology, pharmacology and internal medicine as well as cardiology. Her skill and experience assure your child of thorough, precise evaluation and-when needed-swift recommendation for transplant wait-listing.

Before, during and after transplant, Dr. Lamour tailors care for your child's unique medical needs. Describing herself as a "very hands-on physician," Dr. Lamour makes a point of personally performing her patients' heart biopsies-a crucial part of post-transplant management. She has performed more than 2000 exacting catheter-based procedures on patients as young as two weeks old.

Committed to research that directly benefits her patients and moves the field of pediatric cardiology forward, Dr. Lamour has participated in multi-center studies that focus on children's heart transplant outcomes. She has written guidelines, consensus statements, peer-reviewed studies and textbook chapters on pediatric transplant and pediatric heart failure patient management.

Dr. Lamour is a member of the Pediatric Subcommittee of the Heart Failure Society of America and the Pediatric Heart Failure Study Group.

Dr. Lamour's satisfaction in caring for the most critically ill children attracted her to pediatric cardiology early in her career. Her determination "never to give up" on her tiny patients later led Dr. Lamour to focus on heart failure and transplant.

Today as then, Dr. Lamour remains committed to treating the whole child. "I feel fortunate," she says, "to work with these children and their families and to learn from their abilities to cope with what life has in store for each of us."
