The Carl Sagan Discovery Program is the nation's first science and learning program fully integrated into the design and philosophy of a pediatric hospital.
The Discovery Program focuses on learning, inspiration and interactivity. Activities are designed to develop children's understanding of themselves within the context of the world and the universe. The Discovery Program engages children in a creative, science-discovery process that fires their imaginations, helps build self-esteem, and contributes to their long-term prospects for success.
Opportunities for learning about health and illness, how the hospital functions and other information are accessible through kiosks and interactive bedside panels in every patient's room and in common spaces throughout the hospital.
By introducing children to the infinite world of science and discovery through interactive exhibits and mixed media, the Discovery Program takes the idea of family-centered care a giant step further.
